Casa Da Música
Tirei estas fotos para um trabalho sobre a Casa Da Música. Usei uma Pentax K1000 (analógica), lentes 28mm~50mm~70-300mm e um rolo diapositivo a cores ISO100. Durante a revelação, os negros foram substituídos por castanhos, resultando em algumas imagens muito interessantes e irrepetíveis. Seria difícil repetir este efeito mesmo com recurso ao digital e ao Photoshop. Gostei bastante das imagens e assino-as embora não consiga oficializá-las como portfolio perante a entidade por causa das condições irrepetíveis e incontroláveis da revelação. Usei uma Nikon D70 para “reperages” e aviso ainda não digitalizei todos os diapositivos, pelo que colocarei mais com o tempo. I’ve decided to post, every once in a while, some images from my archives. This one dates from 2003 and its me at Miramar beach. I photoshoped it to look like a distant alien home from far across space and time. As a sci-fi affictionato, I find it irresistible to fill the void of that could lie between this world and others. I sometimes doze away thinking about such distant and seemingly futile things, transcending the boredom of everyday life. Getting high on thoughts and eventually lost in space. Anyway, there I stand, alone on a beach, a trillion zillion miles away, orbiting a red dwarf, in a binary star system with some big gas orbs and very visible galaxies over a permanent dusky sky. Try to beat that, Van Gogh (starry night?)! You can click on the picture to enlarge it.

An excelent movie, from a distant time when horror movies made a more humble approach but also left a more lasting impression! Those were the days when classic literature and theatre were very influential in cinema. They were a lot more fun to watch too! The Masque of The Red Death is one of the many great Vincent Price movies! It is based on a short story by the tormented genius of Edgar Allan Poe. Some of its quotes are memorable and timeless. Price’s voice and acting are just perfect for the story and overall mood of the story. Here are a few transcriptions and a sampling made by ToT’s in their 96 album Velvet Darkness They Fear. Just brilliant! Now go watch this movie a see what happens to Prospero. Prospero: That cross you wear around your neck; is it only a decoration, or are you a true Christian believer? Aqui está um dos meus últimos trabalho de fotografia do segundo semestre do 2.º ano. Foi a primeira experiência de muitas paisagens em modo HDR - High Dynamic Range. O meu tema era algo vago no início e relacionava-se com paisagens industriais. Quis fotografar cenários completamente transformados e opostos aos naturais como que impressões ou evidências extremas da presença humana no ambiente. Por isso, sucatas, lixeiras, cemitérios, zonas industrializadas e por fim portos foram as minhas escolhas.

Aqui fica uma foto da vista de minha casa. O caos e o ruído causado pelas obras do Metro do Porto foram quase insuportáveis no último ano. Espero que a médio prazo, o trânsito diminua de intensidade. A julgar pelos absurdos preços dos combustíveis, e também por ser mais rápido e amigo do ambiente andar de transportes públicos.

I did an apocalyptic video a few months ago, about the end of our world. I cooked up a simple storyline about a scientific experiment gone terribly wrong… the LHC (Large Hadron Collider that is to be ignited in Mid 2008) created a black hole that slowly sucked up our solar system. I did this using clips from documentars and movies, mostly bbc. I also edited it to appear like an alien documentary on how we humans blew ourselves up. I chose Clint Mansell – The Last Man as soundtrack and synthesized all the other sounds. I don’t believe such a thing might happen and I don’t even care. It is beyond my technical understanding so I leave that to the real specialists – the scientists! 600 000 views and rising… Here’s the textual intro I wrote for that “alien documentary”: This is the story of Earth, a 4.4 billion year old planet, 100 000 light years away.
